I often get asked the question, what do you assess and treat? The answer is quite simple, just about everything! At the DMG clinic we assess anything you would go to your Medical Doctor about, and then some.
The following is a condensed list of just some of the conditions and concerns we assess and treat:
TESTING
At DMG clinic we assess what testing is appropriate case by case. We utilize neurotransmitter testing, stool analysis, heavy metal urine testing, conventional blood work, oxidative stress tests and hormone testing.
Allergy/Food Sensitivity Testing (IgG food screening) - includes testing done either via a finger prick in the office or at home, or a single vial of blood from the lab. IgG food screening can test between 93 and 200 foods. Food sensitivities lead and aggravate many health issues from headaches and skin conditions to immune dysfunction, digestive and mood troubles. Prices range from $300-$400 + HST.
Hormone Testing - is used to determine levels of estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, cortisol and DHEA. These markers help determine imbalances in hormone function and therefore help determine appropriate treatment protocols for hormone based symptom pictures like Hot flashes, Insomnia, Weight gain, Depression, Infertility, Impotence, Hair Loss and Fatigue. The test is a salivary test and is done at home and shipped to the lab. Cost $275 + HST.
Neurotransmitter Testing - includes a variety of panels and profiles. Neurotransmitters transmit information from cell to cell and across a synapse or space. Neurotransmitters play a role via inhibition or excitation in many physiological processes. Depression, Anxiety, Insomnia, Attention Deficit Disorders and Fatigue are a few of the conditions associated with neurotransmitter imbalances. These urine metabolite tests are done at home, sent to the lab and can range from $275 - $600 + HST.
Conventional Blood Work - this type of lab work is taken via serum blood. The serum blood values when interpreted Naturopathically, are extremely telling and function as an excellent marker of overall health and organ function. Liver function, acid base balance, pancreatic and kidney function, blood health, vitamin/mineral balances and more may be observed. These tests are done at Gamma-dynacare Lab and can range in price from $30- $800.
Comprehensive Stool Analysis - This stool sample test gives information on gut health and allows us to objectively evaluate the status of beneficial and imbalanced bacteria. It is used for symptoms from agitation to diarrhea, constipation, irritable bowel symptoms and bloating. Cost $140 + HST.
Urinalysis - we use to measure cellular toxicity. Poor Nutritional Status, Stress, Metabolic Disorders and Genetic Disorders are several of the situations where the body's ability to detoxify becomes deficient and cellular oxidative damage occurs. These tests range from $84 - $162.
BIA (Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis) - is a method of assessing body composition. It is the measurement of body fat in relation to lean body mass. A normal balance of body fat and water are associated with good health and longevity. This test can measure these values to help monitor healthy aging and reduce the risk of illness. Cost $15 + HST.
A successful treatment plan can only be preceded by the right diagnosis ... testing may be necessary.
